Frédéric Grenouillet

Keynote Speaker

Frédéric Grenouillet studied pharmacy and then specialised in clinical biology at the University of Franche-Comté, which he completed in 2001. During his studies, he spent 18 months at the Pasteur Institute in New Caledonia and quickly specialized in medical microbiology. He first took a position as a microbiologist at the University Hospital of Besançon (France). He obtained his PhD in 2008, studying kinetic of Candida colonization in patients admitted in intensive care units, for which he developed molecular typing techniques. He progressively became interested in parasitology, particularly echinococcosis, as Besançon group was designated as WHO Collaborating Centre for Echinococcosis until 2020, and has been designated National Reference Centre for Echinocccosis since 2012.

He became full Professor at the University of Pharmacy in Besançon in 2015 and he allowed optimization of serological and molecular diagnostics in parasitology, in particular for helminthiases. He has developed collaborations with veterinarians and scientists in charge of the surveillance of animal parasitosis, bringing his expertise on serological and molecular diagnostics, in particular for larval cestodoses.

He is general secretary of the French Society of Parasitology since 2019, and Associate editor of the journal Parasite. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals and contributed to book chapters.
