Manuela Schnyder accomplished her study in veterinary medicine at the University of Zurich, Switzerland in 1999. Following her dissertation in wild boar, she worked in private small and large animal practice in Switzerland and abroad, until 2003, when she joined the Institute of Parasitology in Zurich. She obtained her diploma of the European Veterinary Parasitology College by examination in 2011, performed her habilitation on her favorite parasite, Angiostrongylus vasorum, became Head of the Veterinary Parasitology Unit in 2014 and Professor in 2017.

Beneath teaching, supervising graduate and postgraduate students, delivering advisory service for vets and animal owners in all fields of veterinary parasitology, her research topics include helminths and protozoa of small and large animals, with a focus on clinical, laboratory, diagnostic, pathogenic and epidemiological aspects of lung worms in dogs and cats. She has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers in international journals, contributed to book chapters and and was invited speaker at many conferences and symposia. Manuela is also a committed member of ESCCAP (European Scientific Counsel for Companion Animal Parasites) Europe, promoting disease awareness and suitable prevention and control measures.
